i think we could use 4 of these. click here
they are radial sensors so four makes more sense for the space and the wallet ($35.00 each).

on break i purchased 1 set of powered speakers, 1 web cam and 1 DVD player for the show. i saw another speaker set at the goodwill in moscow for 14$

Does anyone know how to wire? there are other sensors that would cost alot less but we would need to do some work on them. ($60 shipped for 5)

Today we edit video!

here is the Richland show idea so far:

so it looks like we will be doing a light and sound installation. the plan so far is to have tv's with some sort of video loop (with attention payed to color)facing the walls. the remotes for the televisions will be available for people to turn them on and off. the sound will be controlled by infrared switches that will turn on or off the sound as people walk through the room. that's the idea so far.

After talking with Doug, this is how the equipment looks.

- black paper for the windows (richland has this)
- 10-14 televisions. (4 here, 3 in richland (4 more possible)
- DVD players for the TV's (4 here, 4 in richland (3 more possible)
- infrared switches 5-8 from Radio Shack $24 each? We can use some of the $200 from them.
- powered speakers and CD players 5-8 (i have 2 CD players and tri cities has som computer speakers)

This is what I said to him about the roll his students can play. He agreed
The TVs are to be used as a source of colored/textured light. if your students are interested they can be responsible for creating the video for the DVD's. we will create the audio piece and we can bring them together in April.

what is missing from this list? What do you have that we can use for the month? (we mostly need CD players or ???)

Tonight at 8pm in the 1912 Bld in Moscow, ID (on 3rd across from the Moscow Highschool, just a few blocks east of town) is the Benefit for the Friends of the Clear Water. Music by a few bands including Finn Riggins and Digital Video Projection by Me (Joe). Cover $6 for charity.

The Storyboard for each groups project is due today Wed 28th. You will have the rest of the class today, and all friday to meet with your groups and start shooting some footage. If possible I'd like to get all the footage shot and the video edited by friday March 9th (the friday before spring break). We will have alot of time in class to edit the video.

We also need to start thinking about the April 4th show we have down in Richland. We need to consider what we want to do, how we are going to get all the pieces down there, and what we are going to do about installing our piece. We also have students down there that are interested in working with us, so what roll can they play? When we get back from spring break, we will only have about 2 weeks to pull the show together. This weekend I want each of you to come up with an idea for the gallery down in the Richland. Think interactive, installation, altered space, sound posibilities, can it tie into this current project? We will take 30-45mins to discuss your ideas on Monday March 5th.
